Granger vs. WJ dual meet: we are bummed we cannot compete for 2 weeks but at least we had a great time competing against Granger yesterday!
Though many of the running times are questionable (as results that are not done with a Fully Automatic Timing system are inaccurate) we saw some great early performances both on the track and with our field events.
Abby Jackson ran well in both Hurdles races placing first in the 100m Hurdles and second in the 300m Hurdles. Several good times were ran in the girls 100m with Gracie Sandstrom (13.35) leading the way. Gracie later went on to post the top time in the 200m with a time of 27.02. The girls dominated the 1600m (taking the top 9 places) with Gentry Pierce, Kenzie Thomsom (who also later placed first in the 800 with a solid time of 2:38), and Kate Jackson all breaking 6:00. Allisa Sadler took first in the 400m with a time of 1:05.43.
For the field events Alex Martinez (14'02") and Abby Jackson (14'01") led the way for the Jaguars by placing first and second in the Long Jump. Alison Newsom took first in high jump with 4'8". In the throws Megan Wilson began her season throwing 77' in the Disc and 29' in the Shot Put. In the Javelin Alyssia Marquez took first with a throw of 98'.
On the boys side Elijah Reives won the 110m Hurdles and ran strong. We are excited from when the break from high school sports is over due to Covid-19 so that we can accurately see what Elijah's time will be. Miguel Sanchez and Lucas Whelright led the way for the Jaguars by taking the top two places in the 100m. Josh Scott and Kaiden Allen were second and third in the 400m both running a 55. After having already ran the 1600m Phillip Hall went on to place second in the 800m with a 2:20. Miguel Sanchez and Lucas Whelright again led the way for the team in the 200m by placing 1st and 3rd. In the 1600m Austin Klingler was able to come away with the win in his first attempt of ever running the event with a 4:43. Spencer Birchum and Riley Burrup followed closely behind with both running 4:53. Several great throws were achieved by West Jordan. Dalyn Perez took first with a throw of 120'8" and Jaxon Pivili (104'5") and Leka Leausa (104'6") battling closely for second with Leka coming out on top. Elijah Reives (19'10.5") and Anthony Warren (19'5") took the top two places in the Long Jump. Karson Allen and Jacob Stacy places first and third respectively in the Javelin throwing 114'7" and 103'. Mason Baker and Logan Prince led the way in by placing first and second in the High Jump, Dalyn Perez and Syrus Webster took the top spots in the Shot Put throwing 43'6" and 42'5" respectively. In the Shot Put it was extremely encouraging to see several boys close to breaking into the 40's.
