Murray XC Invite 2019

The team had a fantastic day yesterday at Murray City Park! Personal records were set all around the team and mental barriers were finally broken. There are too many kids to talk about so here are some of the highlights:

▪️Open Varsity Boys: our team got second place going 8, 10, 11, 20, 29 once they combined the two open races (we went 1, 2, 3, 7, 11) in the N-Z portion of the open race). Only a 26 second spread between our 1st through 5th runner! All boys were in the 16’s! The boys consisted of Ethan Maxfield, Austin Klingler, Ethan Ferre, Landon Edwards, and Spencer Birchum.

▪️Open Varsity Girls: our girls took 8th place with not an ideal race for all of our top girls but they still powered through. Brynn Black and Gentry Pierce went 16 and 20th breaking into the 19’s!

▪️Sophomore girls race: Kenzy Thomson got 4th place with a 19:48! That is a huge PR by almost a minute from last week.

▪️Freshman Boys Race: Alex Maxfield does it again by placing 5th place in the race and breaking 17 (16:59)! He is now 6th place on varsity!

We only have 2 more races until region.

Murray Invite athletes of the week: Brynn Black & Ethan Ferre.

▪️Brynn went into the race mentally tough. She got out fast, made moves when needed, and got 16th place! Her time was a PR of 19:30! We are so excited to see her incorporate these things during the remainder of her seasons.

▪️Ethan Ferre got out fast and stayed that way the entire race. He ran in a good pack with the top 5 boys on the team. He ended up 3rd place in the race (11th when combing the races) and a PR of 16:07!
